One of my inspirations for writing ShamelesslyMe stems from a challenge that I completed last year. I spent 8 months prior to the start date blogging about my training, fundraising and musings for the 130 miles coast path “run” I was intending to do.  I fundraised for MNDA and a mental health charity; the support financially and emotionally was out of this world.  Today marks the one year anniversary of the start of the challenge as well as the start of Mental Health Awareness Week 2018.

I can’t believe it’s been a year. My mental health one year on has been good and bad, ebbs and flows. Mostly I think there has been an improvement but as you know you have to keep working at these things! We have to remember though that it is ok not to be ok, and that it’s ok to ask for help. You aren’t alone.

My main strategies for managing my mental health

  • Being active, running, walking, paddle boarding
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Yoga
  • Meditating
  • Being outdoors, near the sea
  • Embracing life pleasures, practising mindfulness
  • Gratitude lists
  • Doing what makes me feel good

Make your list. What makes you feel good, lighter, more at ease with being you?

I want to share some pictures from this time last year. Pictures that have amazing memories and make me smile. I hope you like them.
